The Special Staff of Delhi Police South District arrested a 35-year-old Nigerian national, John Chibuike, for supplying cocaine in South and South-East Delhi, following a raid in Islam Colony, Mehrauli.
The operation, carried out on March 30, recovered more than one kilogram of cocaine estimated to be worth ₹10 crore in the international market, according to a Delhi Police press release.
Chibuike has an existing case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered against him in 2022. The raid was led by Inspector Anuj Kumar under the supervision of ACP Abhinendra Jain, with DCP South District Anant Mittal confirming the seizure as a significant disruption to the capital’s drug supply chain.
A case has been registered at the Mehrauli police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigations are ongoing to identify broader network links. DCP Mittal stated, “The action reflects the district’s continued crackdown on narcotics under Operation Kavach 13.0.”
Earlier in March, Delhi Police arrested three individuals, including a woman, in connection with a street-level drug racket in Chuna Mandi, Paharganj. A team from Paharganj police station intercepted the suspects and recovered 34.17 grams of heroin (smack) packed in 210 small plastic pouches along with ₹6,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Officials said that on March 23, during routine patrols, the team received intelligence regarding drug peddlers’ movement. A team, supervised by the SHO and ACP of Paharganj, conducted discreet surveillance and intercepted a man and a woman exhibiting suspicious behaviour.
A search was conducted following legal protocols in the presence of women police staff, which led to the recovery of heroin and cash from the woman. All contraband was sealed on site, and due legal procedures were completed.
Interrogation revealed the accused’s involvement in street-level distribution and connections to a larger network. Consequently, two further associates, including the woman’s husband, were arrested. An FIR registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act dated March 23 is currently lodged with Paharganj police station.
