Kerala Blasters FC secured their first victory of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season with a 2-1 comeback win against Bengaluru FC, who played with 10 men, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday.

Bengaluru took the lead through an own goal by Fallou Ndiaye, but Victor Bertomeu equalised before substitute Francisco Feuillassier scored the decisive goal.

The win moves Kerala Blasters up to 13th place in the table with four points, while Bengaluru remain fifth with 14 points.

Bengaluru started positively and nearly scored in the seventh minute when Fallou Ndiaye’s header was comfortably saved by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Shortly afterwards, Ebindas Y fired wide from distance as the visitors threatened early.

The hosts grew into the game with Ryan Williams providing a constant threat down the right wing. His delivery caused problems for Kerala’s defence, and Sunil Chhetri came close in the 23rd minute, heading wide from a Nikhil Poojary cross. Williams then forced a save from Arsh Shaikh with a driven effort a minute later.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute through an unfortunate own goal by Fallou Ndaiye. Williams beat his marker and delivered a dangerous ball into the box, which Ndiaye inadvertently deflected into his own net, giving Bengaluru the lead.

The match changed in the 34th minute when Braian Sanchez was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after an altercation with Matias Hernandez, reducing Bengaluru to ten men. Kerala Blasters sought to capitalise on their numerical advantage but Bengaluru’s defence, led by Chinglensana Singh, held firm to preserve the lead at half-time.

After the break, Bengaluru continued to threaten on the counter-attack, with Williams going close in the 49th minute and Ashique Kuruniyan forcing a strong save from Arsh Shaikh.

Kerala Blasters began to impose themselves and were rewarded in the 60th minute when Ebindas played a precise through ball to Victor Bertomeu, who calmly finished into the bottom-right corner to equalise.

With momentum, Kerala pressed on and in the 78th minute, substitute Francisco Feuillassier marked his ISL debut by scoring the winning goal. He received another incisive pass from Ebindas, beat his marker and finished from a tight angle through Gurpreet’s legs to make it 2-1.

Bengaluru pushed forward in the final stages with substitute Monirul Molla and Williams leading attacks, but Kerala’s defence remained resolute. Arsh Shaikh made a crucial save in stoppage time and Bikash Yumnam cleared a dangerous ball to secure the victory.

The final whistle confirmed a hard-fought 2-1 success for Kerala Blasters, who demonstrated resilience and composure to overturn the deficit against a determined Bengaluru side.
