Four Pune rural police officers suspended over alleged illicit liquor links

Four Pune rural police officers suspended over alleged illicit liquor links

TheNewsMill 3 days ago

Pune Rural Police have suspended four officers following allegations of their association with Radheshyam Prajapati, a suspect involved in producing illicit country liquor in Uruli Kanchan.

The suspension was ordered by Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Singh Gill.

This measure comes after at least 15 people reportedly died from consuming poisonous illicit liquor in Pune city and the Pimpri-Chinchwad jurisdiction in recent days. In response, police have intensified efforts against illegal liquor operations, and cases related to the incident have been registered with both the Pune City Police and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerates.

Radheshyam Prajapati, a key accused, resides in Uruli Kanchan. During the investigation, it was determined that four police personnel had allegedly been in contact with him. The preliminary inquiry revealed their behaviour was highly inappropriate and unbecoming of police discipline.

Based on these findings, SP Sandeep Singh Gill suspended Ramdas Dnyandev Jagtap of Yavat Police Station, Subhash Balbhim Doifode of the Daund Sub-Divisional Police Office, and Ajit Shivaji Kale and Sumit Nandkumar Wagh of Uruli Kanchan Police Station.

The suspension order highlights a strong possibility that the personnel might attempt to influence witnesses connected to the case. Consequently, they have been directed to remain at the Pune Rural Police Headquarters during the suspension and are prohibited from leaving without prior permission from the competent authority.

SP Singh Gill issued these instructions as part of ongoing investigations and disciplinary proceedings.
