The Fact Finding Committee has commenced its investigation into allegations of religious conversion and sexual harassment linked to the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) office in Nashik, advocate Monika Arora stated on Saturday.

Speaking with ANI, Arora said, “We have come for an inquiry into the episode of TCS. And we are going to talk to all the stakeholders.”

She added that the panel intends to speak with all involved parties before releasing any preliminary findings. “It’s not possible for us to say anything right now because we will meet all the stakeholders and talk to them, and whatever truth comes out, based on that, we are going to make a recommendation and a report,” she explained.

Arora noted the committee consists of four members. “The committee has a retired judge, a retired IPS officer, and an advocate and a coordinator from NCW. There are four people,” she said.

The panel's visit coincides with protests by Bajrang Dal members outside the District Collector’s Office demanding action over the allegations.

On Friday, the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) took two accused, Safi Shaikh and Raza Memon, into custody in connection with the alleged forced conversion linked to the Nashik TCS case. The ATS is currently interrogating the suspects regarding the incident.

Earlier, K. Krithivasan, CEO and Managing Director of TCS, stated that the company has engaged expert teams from Deloitte and the law firm Trilegal as independent counsel for the internal investigation led by Aarthi Subramanian, President and COO of TCS. He also said that a committee chaired by Keki Mistry, Independent Director, has been formed.

TCS confirmed that the Nashik unit continues to operate and serve clients. While detailed reviews are ongoing, a preliminary examination of the systems and records related to the Nashik office indicates no complaints of the nature alleged through either ethics or POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) channels.

Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis described the incident at the TCS Nashik facility as “a very serious matter” on Friday, stating the government is investigating whether the matter constitutes “corporate jihad.”

In an interview with ANI, Fadnavis confirmed that state authorities are conducting an in-depth investigation into the controversy affecting the technology sector. He emphasised that investigative agencies are examining the matter beyond surface details.

While he did not provide specifics about the “corporate jihad” allegation, Fadnavis asserted the government is prepared to act firmly if evidence of a systemic conspiracy emerges. “The incident which has occurred in Nashik TCS is a very serious matter. I would like to thank TCS for taking cognisance of the matter. The TCS chief has condemned it, and they are cooperating with the police. We are trying to go to the root of the incident. We are probing the matter. If it emerges as corporate jihad, we will find its root,” he said.

Meanwhile, Priyank Kanungo, Member of the Human Rights Commission, stated that the Commission has taken cognisance of the case and has requested TCS provide details regarding its BPOs, offices, subsidiaries, POSH committees, and any complaints received over the past three years.

Kanungo told ANI, “A complaint was received alleging that at a TCS BPO in Nashik, women employees were being groomed, lured, blackmailed, forced to change religion, made to offer prayers, and subjected to sexual exploitation — all with the knowledge of senior management. It was claimed that management deliberately allowed such activities… We have taken cognisance of the complaint and asked TCS to provide details of all their BPOs and offices across India, including subsidiaries, the constitution of their POSH committees, and records of complaints received in the past three years, along with how they were handled.”

He added that the Commission has also issued a notice to Maharashtra police seeking clarification regarding the FIR filed in the case. “We have also issued notice to Maharashtra Police, seeking clarity on the FIR filed in this case — specifically, whether the head of operations of the concerned office has been named as an accused, and if not, why. The information has been requested within two weeks,” he said.

To date, nine cases have been registered related to the matter: one at Deolali Camp police station and eight others at Mumbai Naka.
