Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi congratulated the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairperson Jay Shah on Sunday following Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final.

Addressing the media in Ahmedabad, he described the final as “historic” and expressed gratitude towards the spectators who attended the match at Narendra Modi Stadium. “I congratulate the entire BCCI team and ICC Chairman Jay Shah and his entire team as well. Today, this historic match was held in Ahmedabad. I welcome the guests who have come from all over the country,” he stated.

RCB secured their second IPL title by defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets at Narendra Modi Stadium. This victory marks RCB's fourth Indian franchise cricket trophy overall, including two Women’s Premier League (WPL) titles.

Batting first, Gujarat Titans scored 155 for 8 in 20 overs, with Washington Sundar and Nishant Sindhu being the only batsmen to surpass 20 runs. Rasikh Dar Salam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood regularly took wickets for RCB.

RCB got off to a strong start with a 62-run partnership between Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli. Although Gujarat Titans fought back, reducing RCB to 132 for 5 at one stage, Kohli guided his team to victory with two overs remaining.

Powerplay bowling, effective spin in the middle overs, and a top-order collapse contributed to Gujarat Titans' struggle during the match's critical phases.

RCB had previously ended an 18-year wait for the trophy in 2025, defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets in the IPL final, also held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
