The Gujarat Titans commemorated Gujarat Day with a special team dinner on Friday evening, bringing together players, team owners, support staff, and management to celebrate the state's rich cultural heritage.
In recognition of the occasion, the franchise presented players with specially crafted Tangaliya shirts, a distinctive handwoven textile from Gujarat.
The players wore the Tangaliya shirts during the event, showing enthusiasm and appreciation for the craft’s heritage. Tangaliya weaving, originating from the Dangashiya community, has a history of over 700 years and is known for its unique bead-like patterns, often described as “pearls on cloth.”
Traditionally worn on special occasions, the craft reflects the spirit, resilience, and storytelling traditions of Gujarat, passed down through generations and having gained global recognition in recent years. This initiative highlights the franchise’s Gujarat-first ethos and its focus on celebrating regional identity while strengthening the team’s connection beyond cricket.
The Gujarat Day team dinner also underlined the franchise’s commitment to local culture and fostering team unity, with players actively engaging in and valuing the significance of the event.
After two consecutive wins, the Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans will host the Punjab Kings on Sunday in their next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match.
