Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava conducted a review of key services at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Mangalagiri, including outpatient department (OPD), ABHA registration, radiology, oncology, and emergency units.

This visit was part of the Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 campaign, which is observed from April 1 to 15, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reported.

The MoHFW stated on X, “During her visit to AIIMS Mangalagiri for #SwachhataPakhwada (1-15 April 2026), Union Health Secretary Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava reviewed key hospital facilities, including OPD, ABHA registration, radiology, oncology, and emergency services. The visit underscored the focus on cleanliness, patient experience, and strengthening quality healthcare delivery.”

Swachhata Pakhwada, inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision, is a fortnight-long cleanliness drive designed to promote the ideals of Swachh Bharat and encourage a clean and sustainable work environment.

On March 24, the MoHFW launched the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP) to provide early warnings and respond promptly to bio-emergencies, such as outbreaks and other public health crises.

To improve crisis management, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been developed for effective emergency response. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also published guidelines addressing biological disasters, including bio-warfare and bio-terrorism. These guidelines detail potential bio-agents, their main characteristics, epidemiological signs for early detection, and protocols for prevention and treatment.

Moreover, battalions of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been trained to manage bio-emergencies effectively. Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai commented that this initiative advances coordinated nationwide preparedness against biological threats.
