HLL Lifecare Limited, an Indian healthcare products manufacturer under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, continues to lead progress in women's healthcare, reproductive wellness, and menstrual hygiene nationwide.
With nearly sixty years of involvement in the National Family Welfare Programme, HLL has become a trusted supplier of affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare solutions for women.
The company has developed a diverse range of products, including contraceptives, maternal wellness items, menstrual hygiene solutions, nutraceuticals, reproductive healthcare products, and women-centred pharmaceuticals. Its extensive healthcare network serves government programmes, hospitals, healthcare institutions, gynaecologists, retail markets, and public health initiatives across India.
A pioneer in reproductive healthcare, HLL offers one of the widest contraceptive portfolios in the country. This includes male and female condoms, oral contraceptive pills, emergency contraceptive pills, Copper-T devices, hormonal intrauterine systems, and tubal rings for family welfare programmes. It also introduced India’s first non-hormonal oral contraceptive pill, Saheli (Centchroman/Ormeloxifene), recognised for safety, convenience, and accessibility.
For long-term reproductive care, HLL manufactures products such as T Care Copper-T 380, MCare Cu250, and EMILY, an indigenously developed Levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system for contraception and managing dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
In menstrual hygiene and feminine wellness, HLL markets sanitary napkins under the Happy Days brand and menstrual cups under Thinkal, Velvet, and Cool Cups. Through Project Thinkal, the company has distributed over 1.5 million menstrual cups across nine States and two Union Territories, promoting sustainable, reusable menstrual hygiene among women and adolescent girls.
Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable healthcare, HLL recently launched Happy Days Earth, a 100 percent compostable sanitary napkin made from plant-based materials. It supports menstrual hygiene management by supplying sanitary napkins via government schemes, corporate social responsibility initiatives, tribal welfare programmes, and school health campaigns. The company also manufactures sanitary napkin vending machines and eco-friendly incinerators to encourage safe hygiene disposal and sanitation awareness.
HLL’s women’s wellness range includes pregnancy care products, ovulation inducers, menstrual cycle regulators, anti-emetics, anti-fibrinolytics, medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) pills, pregnancy test kits, and maternal nutrition supplements. Its Ayurvedic and nutraceutical division markets products such as Lactohil, an Ayurvedic galactagogue and health supplement for lactating mothers and postnatal wellness.
Beyond products, HLL is partnered with LifeSpring Hospitals, a 50:50 joint venture providing affordable maternal and women’s healthcare. Operating maternity hospitals in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, LifeSpring offers prenatal care, gynaecology services, deliveries, maternal surgeries, and women-focused healthcare for economically weaker and middle-income families.
Through its comprehensive approach-encompassing healthcare products, public health programmes, institutional partnerships, maternal wellness initiatives, and sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions-HLL Lifecare Limited continues to strengthen its role as a key contributor to women’s healthcare and reproductive well-being in India.
