India and England arrive at Wankhede Stadium for T20 World Cup semi-final

India and England arrive at Wankhede Stadium for T20 World Cup semi-final

Defending champions India and two-time winners England have reached Wankhede Stadium ahead of their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final match on Thursday.

The winner will progress to the final against New Zealand, scheduled for March 8 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

England’s team, captained by Harry Brook, arrived with a clear strategy to counter India’s strong batting lineup and spin attack, particularly in subcontinental conditions that tend to favour spin bowling.

India will depend on a balanced combination of explosive batsmen and disciplined bowlers, aiming to take advantage of home conditions and support from local fans.

India has had a solid tournament so far, winning six of their seven T20 World Cup matches, apart from a 76-run defeat against South Africa in their first Super 8s match.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India faced a challenging situation after the loss to South Africa and needed to win against the West Indies. Thanks to Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 97, India secured a five-wicket victory to confirm their place in the semi-finals.

England have also won six of their seven matches in the tournament and are on a five-match winning streak. Despite their successes, some matches tested them considerably. They narrowly escaped defeat against Nepal and struggled against Pakistan in the Super 8s, with captain Harry Brook standing out. England’s only loss came against the West Indies in the group stage.
