Actor Kangana Ranaut has marked 20 years in the entertainment industry by sharing a photograph from her debut portfolio, which helped her land her first film role in 'Gangster'.
The BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi reflected on the milestone by posting the image on her Instagram account.
The throwback photograph, taken by photographer Jatin Kampani, holds significant meaning for Kangana as it was instrumental in beginning her film career. She wrote, “Today I completed 20 years in the film industry, this is my first portfolio by @jatinkampani that landed me the role of Simran in Gangster.”
Alongside this, she also shared an image from her first magazine shoot, recalling the early stages of her career before becoming one of the most talked-about actors in the industry.
‘Gangster’, released in 2006, was directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films. The romantic thriller starred Kangana alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja, with music composed by Pritam that continues to be popular.
Following her debut, Kangana developed a varied filmography, featuring in movies such as ‘Fashion’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’. In 2011, she received acclaim for her comic role in ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ opposite R. Madhavan. This film’s success marked one of the strongest phases of her career.
Kangana earned back-to-back National Film Awards for Best Actress for her performances in ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, solidifying her status as a leading performer in Hindi cinema. Her latest project was the 2025 directorial venture ‘Emergency’.
