Delhi Capitals stand-in skipper KL Rahul expressed confidence following his team's victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, stating there were no nerves during the death overs despite the challenging situation with Tristan Stubbs and David Miller at the crease.

DC recovered from a poor start of 18/3 in the powerplay, courtesy of a strong bowling performance by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with fifties from Rahul and Stubbs steering the chase.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru mounted a late challenge, narrowing the margin to 15 runs in the final over. However, Miller concluded the match emphatically with two sixes and a four, securing DC’s third win of the season with a ball to spare.

Rahul, filling in for Axar Patel who was sidelined by cramps, commented during the post-match presentation on the wicket and match conditions: “I could see Virat and Phil Salt not happy with the way the ball was coming on. Us losing three wickets in the first six overs did not make it easy for us. So yeah, it was, I think all in all a really good cricket game.” He added, “The conversation was to continue to play good cricket shots and see how we can find boundaries and how we can still put the pressure on the bowlers. We did not want to go into our shell, and then the run rate keeps climbing up, it gets harder and harder towards the end.”

Regarding the bowling conditions and strategy, Rahul noted the presence of reverse swing and the quality of RCB’s death bowlers, saying, “We just wanted to stay in the moment, take it one over at a time and try to put pressure on the bowlers.” Addressing nerves during the final overs, he stated, “No, there was faith in Stubbs and Miller. They do this on a daily basis for South Africa and franchise cricket. So, we also knew that the last two overs were going to be a gamble for RCB as well. And we knew that probably Romario Shepherd would bowl or maybe Suyash Sharma would bowl, which gives our batters a good chance to hit two sixes in the last two overs. So yeah, ideally we would not have wanted it to go till the 20th over, but we will take the win.”

With this victory, Delhi Capitals moved up to fourth place in the standings with three wins and two losses, totalling six points. Royal Challengers Bengaluru remain in second place with four wins and two losses, accumulating eight points.

Earlier, RCB set a target of 176 after finishing at 175 for eight in 20 overs. Phil Salt was the standout batsman with 63 runs off 38 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, while wickets fell regularly. Lungi Ngidi, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel each took two wickets.

During DC’s run chase, the team initially faltered to 18 for three due to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s effective bowling. However, half-centuries from KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs, who scored 60 not out off 47 balls with four boundaries, along with a composed finish by David Miller (22 not out in 10 balls, including a four and two sixes), led DC to an impressive win.
