KL Rahul's record-breaking success against Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Deepak Chahar concluded during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.
Prior to the Delhi Capitals (DC) versus MI encounter, Rahul had amassed 160 runs off 103 balls in 13 innings against Chahar, maintaining a strike rate of 155.3 and had never been dismissed by the bowler in IPL history. This achievement made him the highest-scoring batter against a single bowler in the tournament without being dismissed.
However, in the latest game, Rahul was dismissed by Chahar for the first time, ending the impressive streak. Rahul scored just one run while chasing the target of 163 set by the five-time champions Mumbai Indians.
MI batted first after the Delhi Capitals won the toss and invited the Hardik Pandya-less team to set a target. Suryakumar Yadav, leading the side in Pandya’s absence due to illness, scored 51 runs off 36 balls with three fours and two sixes. Rohit Sharma contributed 35 runs from 26 balls, hitting six boundaries.
Naman Dhir added 28 runs off 21 balls. Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 18, and Corbin Bosch scored 11 not out, both hitting a couple of boundaries to help MI reach 162 runs. Mukesh Kumar took two wickets for Delhi, while Patel, Natarajan, Ngidi, and Nigam claimed one wicket each.
In response, Delhi Capitals stood at 73 for three wickets after 10 overs, requiring 90 more runs to win.
