The Mumbai Indians have named 21-year-old all-rounder Krish Bhagat as a replacement for Atharva Ankolekar, who has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Bhagat, a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast bowler representing Punjab, adds versatility to the Mumbai Indians squad. He has been involved in the team’s trials over the past few years, including playing for the Reliance Team in the DY Patil T20 cup in 2026, and has supported the side as a bowler during pre-season this year.
Atharva Ankolekar, a left-arm spin all-rounder, was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup team in 2020 and was named Player of the Match in the final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup against Bangladesh in 2019.
Krish Bhagat joins the Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 30 Lakh. According to a franchise press release, he has consistently impressed the coaching staff with his dedication, work ethic and performance in practice sessions and games for the Mumbai Indians. His development domestically and in team sessions this season has earned him this opportunity to join the main squad.
Led by Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians currently stand ninth in the points table, with one win in four matches. After winning their opening game, the five-time champions have suffered three consecutive defeats.
The Mumbai Indians will face the Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday in their next IPL fixture.
