Tributes continue nationwide following the death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, with veteran lyricist Sameer Anjaan recalling the 'Melody Queen' as an 'institution' in Indian music.

Speaking to ANI, Sameer highlighted Asha Bhosle’s unparalleled contribution to singing, stating her life was entirely devoted to music. He described her as a once-in-a-generation artist: “Asha ji was not just a singer; she was an institution. There is hardly any language in which she has not sung songs. Her only purpose in life was singing nothing but singing.”

He further reflected on how she lived with grace, passion, and dedication. Praising both Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar, he said, “One can learn how to live life from Asha ji. There can be no one like Asha ji and Lata Mangeshkar they are truly one of a kind.”

Sameer Anjaan shared a long creative association with Asha Bhosle, especially during the 1990s. Over the years, he wrote thousands of songs and collaborated with many prominent figures in the music industry, with his partnership with Asha Bhosle representing a memorable part of his career.

Asha Bhosle, one of the most iconic and versatile voices in Indian music history, died on Sunday at the age of 92, leaving a prolific legacy that shaped the soundscape of Indian cinema and music for more than eight decades. Dr Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital confirmed her passing.

“Asha Bhosle breathed her last today in Breach Candy Hospital. She passed away due to multi-organ failure,” Dr Samdani stated. She had been admitted to the hospital on Saturday evening following extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.

Her most celebrated songs span over six decades, demonstrating unmatched versatility across Bollywood, ghazals, and regional music. Her work was largely defined by iconic collaborations with R.D. Burman and O.P. Nayyar. Notable tracks include ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne,’ ‘Dum Maro Dum,’ ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,’ ‘Aao Na Gale Lag Jao Na,’ and ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti Ke.’
