The Maharashtra cabinet has approved the creation of a separate Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence to further the state's aim of becoming a Developed Maharashtra under the Developed India 2047 vision.

The existing Directorate of Information Technology will be upgraded to the Commissionerate of Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. A new Information Technology Cadre with permanent positions will be established for the Mantralaya departments, the Commissioner’s office, and all districts, expected to accelerate IT, AI, and digital governance throughout the state.

The Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRSAC) will be converted from a society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, into a Section 8 company under the Companies Act, 2013. This change is intended to expedite projects including the Road Information System, Urban Planning, Jalyukt Shivar-Watershed Development, Hill Development Scheme, e-Panchanama, Maha Agri Tech, Mangrove studies, Groundwater management, and mineral and mining studies.

A Maharashtra Geotechnology Application Centre (MahaGeotech) company will also be established to improve governance by leveraging geospatial technology. The initiative will introduce educational programmes for students, professionals, and researchers, incorporating modern technology, research, geospatial innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Financial restructuring for the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL/Mahavitaran) will include raising government-guaranteed loans amounting to Rs 32,679 crore through government bonds in the capital market. The agricultural distribution business will be separated (Agri Demerger), and Mahavitaran will be listed on the capital market.

Approval has also been given to implement the Maharashtra Responsive Development Programme (MRDP), which will mobilise funding for disaster management with private capital support, including ₹165 crore from the World Bank. Citizens affected by disasters will receive home loan concessions, while MSMEs will benefit from loan relief and insurance protection.

Plans are being prepared to improve floodwater drainage in Kolhapur, Sangli, and Ichalkaranji, alongside efforts to reduce flood risks in the Krishna river basin.
