In his letter, Rizwan asked, “Why was I called by the NCCIA?” and inquired about the reasons for the agency retaining his mobile phone. “I want to know for what reason you are calling me,” he stated, according to sources quoted by Geo News.

Rizwan and fellow batter Imam-ul-Haq are being investigated by NCCIA over alleged dressing room leaks during Pakistan’s unsuccessful Test tour to England, which ended in a 0-3 series whitewash. The inquiry involves data extracted from their mobile phones, which were seized by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) before being handed over to authorities.

The investigation focuses on financial transactions involving both players before and after the series, including scrutiny of their bank account details. The England tour included significant defeats, such as an innings loss at Leeds and a 194-run loss at Lord’s.

Following the Lord’s Test defeat, the PCB overhauled the squad, dismissing head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed, bowling coach Umar Gul, and seven players, including Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. Imam has been questioned specifically for allegedly faking a calf injury during the Lord’s Test. Despite not batting in either innings due to the injury sustained while fielding, he was observed taking throwdowns on day four with a taped calf.

Imam-ul-Haq is likely to face a ban following an initial report concerning the alleged injury fabrication, dressing room leaks, and other disciplinary breaches. Additionally, another previous case against him has been reopened. The PCB also raised concerns regarding an injury Imam sustained during the tour to New Zealand prior to the England series.

After the preliminary inquiry, a two-year ban was recommended for Imam. However, a former head coach, ex-selector, and former captain met with officials suggesting that the left-handed opener should not face a ban, according to sources cited by Geo News.
