Nepal's Kushal Bhurtel hits six sixes in an over in Asian Games qualifier

Nepal batter Kushal Bhurtel became one of six players to hit six sixes in an over during a T20I match as Nepal faced China on Sunday.

Bhurtel achieved the milestone in the ninth over of the innings at the Singapore National Cricket Ground in the opening match of the Asian Games Qualifier.

Facing left-arm spinner Chen Zhuo Yue, he struck six consecutive legal deliveries over the boundary for six sixes, according to the ICC website.

He is the second Nepal player to record six sixes in an over in a T20I, joining Dipendra Singh Airee, and is among six players worldwide to have accomplished this feat.

India’s Yuvraj Singh was the first to hit six sixes in an over, doing so against Stuart Broad during the inaugural ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2007. Bhurtel now joins the ranks of West Indies’ Kieron Pollard (2021), Dipendra Singh Airee (2024), Samoa’s Darius Visser (2024), and Bulgaria’s Manan Bashir (2025) in achieving this record in T20I cricket.

Bhurtel finished the match with an impressive 129 runs from 43 balls as Nepal posted a total of 313 for 2 in their 20 overs. Nepal secured a comprehensive victory by 221 runs after dismissing China for 92.

This innings marks Nepal’s second-highest T20I total and features Bhurtel as the second Nepal batter to hit six consecutive sixes in an over in international cricket, following his teammate Dipendra Singh Airee’s similar feat against Qatar in 2024.
