At Mullanpur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 11, 2026, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, successfully chasing a target of 220 runs.
Half-centuries from Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and captain Shreyas Iyer powered PBKS to 223 for four in 18.5 overs.
SRH batted first after being put in by PBKS and scored 219 for four, largely thanks to a 120-run partnership between Abhishek Sharma, who contributed 74 runs off 28 balls (five fours and eight sixes), and Travis Head, who scored 38 off 23 balls (five fours and one six). However, PBKS responded strongly during the chase.
Priyansh Arya impressed with 57 runs from 20 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes, while Prabhsimran Singh added 51 runs from 25 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes. Skipper Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 69 from 33 balls, featuring five fours and five sixes. Their collective efforts helped PBKS reach the winning total well before the 20-over mark.
Punjab Kings climbed to second place in the IPL standings with three wins and one no result, accumulating seven points. Sunrisers Hyderabad remained sixth, having won only one of their four matches.
The run chase marked PBKS’s record-extending tenth successful chase of over 200 runs in IPL history. Both Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh scored quickly, with Arya reaching his fifty in 16 balls, the second-fastest fifty for the franchise. PBKS scored 93 runs without loss in the powerplay, with both openers finding boundaries against SRH bowlers Harsh Dubey, Eshan Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat. Priyansh was eventually dismissed caught by Nitish Kumar Reddy off Shivang Kumar.
Shivang Kumar also claimed the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh, caught by Heinrich Klaasen. Cooper Connolly was dismissed soon after, leaving PBKS at 128 for three. Iyer then built a partnership with Nehal Wadhera, bringing the team to 150 runs by the 12th over and reaching his half-century in 24 balls. Wadhera scored 14 before being dismissed by Dubey.
Shashank Singh partnered with Iyer to complete the successful chase. Shivang Kumar finished as the most effective bowler for SRH with figures of 3 for 33.
SRH’s innings was characterised by aggressive stroke play and a record powerplay performance, scoring 105 runs without loss in six overs, their third 100-plus score inside the powerplay in IPL history. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head dominated the PBKS attack early on, with Sharma reaching his fifty in 18 deliveries.
SRH maintained scoring momentum until wickets fell regularly in the latter overs, with contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (39 off 33 balls). Arshdeep Singh, Bartlett, and Shashank Singh were among the wicket-takers for PBKS.
Before the match, PBKS players wore black armbands as a mark of respect for those affected by a tragic boat accident in Vrindavan, expressing solidarity with the victims and their families.
Brief scores: SRH 219 for 4 (Abhishek Sharma 74, Heinrich Klaasen 39; Shashank Singh 2/20) lost to PBKS 223 for 4 in 18.5 overs (Shreyas Iyer 69*, Priyansh Arya 57; Shivang Kumar 3/33).
