President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the National Conclave on Strengthening of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies and Integrated Tribal Development Projects in New Delhi on Wednesday.

On the same day, she also virtually inaugurated the Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, along with 75 Space Labs in Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

Addressing the gathering, the President stated that this conclave is a gathering of tribal change agents. She emphasised that the responsibility lies with all participants to deliver welfare and development programmes directly to the villages and doorsteps of tribal communities, which can bring profound transformations to their lives. She added that when those working at state and project levels collaborate with a shared objective, many constructive solutions are bound to emerge.

The President welcomed the fact that the conclave would feature discussions on critical dimensions of tribal development. According to the President's Secretariat, she expressed confidence that personnel from various agencies and projects will advance based on well-considered decisions, ensuring that the benefits of schemes reach every individual in tribal communities.

She advised all stakeholders to remember that the ultimate aim of every project file and document is to assist a human being. She stressed that agencies and individuals involved should focus on issues such as providing adequate nutrition to every pregnant mother, ensuring education for every tribal child in a good school, securing dignified livelihoods for tribal youth, and delivering welfare and development programme benefits to every tribal family. This spirit of sensitivity must guide their work.

The President noted with satisfaction that, alongside modern development efforts, special attention is being paid to the culture and knowledge traditions of tribal communities. She highlighted the importance of education in the progress of individuals and society and urged all stakeholders to contribute wholeheartedly to the education and skill development of tribal children and youth. She was pleased to note that approximately 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have already been established across the country.

President Murmu stated that all citizens are moving towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, emphasising that holistic development of tribal communities is an integral part of this goal. This approach will ensure inclusive development characterises the nation’s progress. She expressed hope that the suggestions, conclusions, and roadmap from the conclave will enable plans for the holistic development of tribal communities to be translated into concrete action at the grassroots level.
