A meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament will take place at 11 am on Thursday within the Parliament premises. The agenda includes a briefing by Audit, followed by oral evidence from representatives of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship concerning the 'Performance Audit of Skill Development under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana,' based on the report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The committee will also review and adopt draft reports approved by Sub-Committee-II (Defence) and Sub-Committee-VI (Non-Compliance). Issues scheduled for examination include delays in production of the electronically upgraded 155mm/45 Calibre Gun System ‘DHANUSH’, a loss of ₹62.10 crore due to replacement of defective ammunition supplied to the Army by Ordnance Factory, Badmal, and matters regarding the management of defence offsets as detailed in relevant Comptroller and Auditor General reports.
Additionally, the committee will consider a draft report on non-compliance regarding the timely submission of Action Taken Notes on non-selected audit paragraphs and excess expenditure. Congress MP KC Venugopal chairs the committee.
Simultaneously, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance is scheduled to meet at 11 am in Parliament. Its agenda includes a briefing by officials from the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) and the Chief Economic Adviser on the “General Economic Situation in the Country.”
On Tuesday, members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education questioned CBSE officials about challenges faced by students related to On-Screen Marking (OSM) in the Class 12 examination, stressing that accountability should be established for lapses, according to sources.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports convened to hear from the Department of School Education Secretary and CBSE Chairman on the use of OSM in Grade 12 CBSE exams and the consequent issues students encountered. The panel also discussed the implementation of the three-language formula in Classes 9 and 10.
CBSE has faced increasing criticism following reports of technical failures in its post-result portal and discrepancies in OSM evaluation of answer sheets.
