The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) celebrated outstanding cricketing achievements across the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons at a grand awards ceremony held in Mumbai on Wednesday, recognising players who have contributed significantly to Mumbai's cricketing heritage.

The event was attended by former India cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Rajeev Kulkarni, and Diana Edulji, along with Cabinet Ministers Ashish Shelar and Aditi Tatkare, and MCA President Ajinkya Naik. MCA Apex Council Members, Office Bearers, and players were also present, underscoring the collective strength of Mumbai’s cricket community, according to an MCA press release.

Siddhesh Lad and Shardul Thakur received the Justice Tendolkar Trophy recognising them as the Best Senior Cricketers for the 2025-26 and 2024-25 seasons respectively. The ceremony also honoured Ayush Mhatre, who captained the Under-19 Men’s World Cup-winning team, alongside other Mumbai-based players and coaches from India's recent World Cup victories. These included captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube from the Men’s T20 World Cup-winning team; Sanika Chalke from the Under-19 Women’s World Cup-winning squad; Abhigyan Kundu from the Under-19 Men’s World Cup-winning team; and Jemimah Rodrigues, Amol Muzumdar, and Aavishkar Salvi from the Women’s World Cup-winning group.

The MCA also recognised its championship teams from the 2024-25 season, including those winning the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, Under-14 West Zone Championship, Under-23 Women’s One-Day Trophy, Vijay Merchant Trophy (Under-16), and Women’s Under-15 One-Day Trophy, emphasising strong performance across age groups and formats.

Commitment to nurturing emerging talent continued with the Sharad Pawar Scholarships awarded to six recipients for 2024-25 and eight for 2025-26. The ceremony further acknowledged long-term contributions to Mumbai cricket with Lifetime Achievement Awards presented to Shobha Pandit and Shrikant Tigdi for 2025-26, and Chandrakant Patankar and Ravindra Savant for 2024-25.

Reflecting on the evening, MCA President Ajinkya Naik stated, “This evening stands as a powerful testament to the standards Mumbai cricket sets for itself, uncompromising excellence, built on legacy and driven by relentless ambition. These achievements are not just milestones, but benchmarks for the future. The full list of 2024-25 awardees includes: Ira Jadhav (Best Junior Cricketer Women’s), Shane Raza (Best Junior Cricketer Under-14), Advait Bhat (Best Junior Cricketer Under-16), Tanish Shetty (Outstanding Junior Under-16), Hrishikesh Gore (Best Fast Bowler Under-19), Naman Pushpak (Best Junior Cricketer Under-19), Abhigyan Kundu (Best Junior Cricketer), Vrushali Bhagat (Best Senior Cricketer Women’s), Ayush Vartak (Outstanding Performance Men’s U-23), Shams Mulani (Highest Wickets and Fastest Century in Ranji Trophy), Siddhesh Lad (Highest Runs and Best Senior Cricketer) and Shardul Thakur (Best Ranji Trophy Cricketer and Best Senior Cricketer of the Year) among others.

The 2025-26 season awards recognised Sanmaya Upadhyay (Best Junior Cricketer Women’s), Shreyas Khilare (Best Junior Cricketer Under-14), Ayush Shete (Best Junior Cricketer Under-16), Karthik Kumar (Best Junior Cricketer Under-16 and Best Junior Cricketer), Vedant Bane and Sarthak Bhide (Best Fast Bowlers Under-19), Harsh Aghav (Best Junior Cricketer Under-19), Sayali Satghare (Best Senior Cricketer Women’s), Suryansh Shedge (Outstanding Performance Men’s U-23), Akash Anand (Fastest Century in Ranji Trophy), and recipients of the Sharad Pawar Scholarship including Shreyas Khilare, Rajveer Lad, and Vedant Gore.

The MCA also highlighted contributions to cricket facilities and tournament organisation, alongside team performances, and presented special awards including the Glory of Maidan Award and recognition for contribution to women’s cricket.

Further recognitions included the Under-19 Women’s World Cup winner Sanika Chalke; Under-19 World Cup winners Ayush Mhatre and Abhigyan Kundu; Women’s World Cup winners Jemimah Rodrigues, Amol Muzumdar, and Aavishkar Salvi; and T20 World Cup winners Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube. The Mumbai Cricket Association marked its hat-trick of the BCCI Best Association Award at the event.
