Eagle Thane Strikers have appointed India all-rounder Shardul Thakur as captain for the forthcoming T20 Mumbai League 2026. The announcement came as the franchise aims to build on last season's semifinal appearance and compete strongly for the title.

Shardul Thakur, recognised as one of Mumbai cricket’s most accomplished players, brings significant leadership experience from representing India across formats and excelling in domestic and franchise competitions, according to a press release.

The team will feature a balanced mix of seasoned campaigners and promising young players. Under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Dhawal Kulkarni, the Strikers plan to pursue an aggressive style of cricket to advance beyond last year's narrow semifinal defeat.

Commenting on his appointment, Shardul Thakur said, “It is an honour to lead Eagle Thane Strikers in the T20 Mumbai League. We have a talented group of players and a coaching staff with tremendous experience. The focus will be on preparing well, playing positive cricket, and giving our best in every game. We want to create a winning culture and make our fans proud.”

The T20 Mumbai League 2026 is scheduled from June 1 to 13. Eagle Thane Strikers will open their campaign against Bandra Blasters in the tournament’s first match.
