Bellary (Karnataka) [IndiaAs India's kabaddi players convene for a high-performance camp at the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Bellary, the emphasis is on developing stronger, fitter, and more prepared athletes.
Defender Shubham Shinde, who last played for Telugu Titans in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 12, regards the camp as more than routine training; it is an opportunity to challenge limits within a competitive setting, according to a release.
He highlighted the role of structured fitness assessments and conditioning drills in establishing a performance foundation. “These tests are very important because they help us understand our fitness levels, especially when the competition at this level is so high,” Shinde said.
The camp also focuses on flexibility and recovery, areas often overlooked in traditional training. Shinde noted, “Yoga and flexibility are very important for players. You need to be fully fit and flexible to perform consistently,” emphasising the comprehensive approach of the camp.
The IIS Bellary facilities provide athletes with world-class infrastructure for training, recovery, and accommodation. For Shinde, this environment allows complete focus on preparation. “The facilities here are excellent–everything is available in one place, which really helps us concentrate on improving ourselves,” he explained.
As the camp intensifies, the priorities remain consistency, discipline, and maximising each session. “When you come into a camp like this, you have to be ready and give your 100 per cent. The goal is to keep improving and perform better with each session,” Shinde concluded.
