At Ananthapalli in Nallajerla mandal of East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, a speeding car collided with a road signboard near Veeravalli Toll Plaza on April 22, resulting in three fatalities and one serious injury.

The injured individual was transported to a nearby hospital by highway ambulance with police assistance. The deceased have been identified as residents of Gajjaram village in Tallapudi mandal, East Godavari.

Nallajerla police reported that Chaparla Hanumantha Rao, D Sagar, Chaparla Raju, and Gannina Narendra were travelling together. The group was returning to their native village after taking Hanumantha Rao, who is physically disabled, to Chennai for medical treatment when the accident occurred.

The collision took place when the vehicle struck a 500-metre caution signboard near Ananthapalli Toll Plaza. Preliminary investigations indicate overspeeding as the probable cause. The impact severely mangled the vehicle.

Narendra sustained critical injuries and remains under hospital treatment with his condition described as serious.

Authorities have registered a case and transferred the bodies to Gopalapuram Government Hospital for postmortem examination.

Earlier this month, on April 6, a rice-laden lorry overturned on the Andhra-Odisha interstate ghat road in Pachipenta mandal of Parvathipuram Manyam district, causing significant traffic disruption.

Officials stated that the lorry, travelling from Odisha to Andhra Pradesh, overturned around 11 pm after brake failure on the ghat road. The vehicle blocked the entire stretch, creating a traffic jam nearly seven kilometres long.

Passengers heading towards Odisha and Chhattisgarh were stranded overnight, with children and elderly individuals experiencing severe hardship due to the prolonged delay. Police arrived at the scene and, with crane assistance, cleared the overturned vehicle by approximately 6 am, restoring normal traffic flow.
