Tripura CM Manik Saha directs timely completion of urban projects and proper idol disposal

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha emphasised the necessity of completing various urban development projects within specified deadlines while maintaining quality workmanship and ensuring proper upkeep and consistent monitoring after their completion.

He made these remarks on January 31, 2026, while reviewing progress on several developmental projects of the Tripura Urban Development Department and urban bodies at the war room of his official residence, TIFT, in Agartala.

During the meeting, CM Saha instructed officials to expedite the completion of projects under the Tripura Urban Development Authority (TUDA) and the Junction Gate in Agartala. He also stressed the importance of completing the under-construction Lighthouse Project at the Akhaura border in Agartala.

The Chief Minister directed the swift completion of the city hospital project to provide health services to the public. Furthermore, he called for the rapid installation of CCTV cameras in urban areas to enhance security and modernise the city. He also ordered the installation of railings on footpaths to improve pedestrian safety and reduce accidents.

In addition, CM Saha highlighted the need for riverfront development along the Gomati River in Udaipur, regular maintenance of existing pump houses, and the construction of new pump houses where necessary. He expressed satisfaction that the construction of pink toilets in 20 urban locations across the state is nearing completion.

The Chief Minister advised officials of the Agartala Municipal Corporation to initiate measures ensuring that various idols are properly placed or recycled after puja celebrations to protect the environment. He further underscored the importance of regular door-to-door garbage collection and solid waste management.

The meeting also covered progress on several projects, including the Mukhyamantri Urban Development Project, Satellite Township Project, AMRUT 2.0, Asian Development Bank-assisted projects, Smart City Mission, City Beautification, and SASCI Scheme.

CM Saha remarked that completing public welfare-oriented projects on schedule and upholding quality standards would reinforce the administration’s accountability to the people.

Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary J K Sinha; Secretary of the Urban Development Department Milind Ramteke; Secretary of the Finance Department Apurba Roy; Commissioner of the Agartala Municipal Corporation Saju Wahid A; Director of the Urban Development Department Megha Jain; Commissioner of the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority Mihir Kanti Gop; and other senior officials from relevant departments.
