Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) will introduce a new Uttar Pradesh-based team, UP Prometheans, to its Season 7 line-up, bringing greater regional representation to the league.

The upcoming season is scheduled to take place in July in Goa, marking a continuation of UTT's development as a dynamic and competitive table tennis league.

Owned by first-generation entrepreneur Mukesh Sharma, UP Prometheans aims to contribute to strengthening India's high-performance sports ecosystem. The franchise replaces Chennai in the league, enhancing the northern belt’s presence and adding a new competitive element. Season 7 will also feature an expanded group stage and a revised format.

“We are pleased to see UTT’s footprint extend into Uttar Pradesh with UP Prometheans coming on board. As India’s largest state, UP holds immense potential for sport, and this addition strengthens our ambition of building a league that truly represents the country. With growing interest from stakeholders who share our vision, UTT continues to evolve both on and off the table,” said Ekansh Gupta, CEO of Ultimate Table Tennis.

UP Prometheans will also participate in Dream UTT Juniors, a grassroots initiative by the Dream Sports Foundation in collaboration with UTT, designed to nurture young table tennis talent nationwide.

Regarding the inclusion, Mukesh Sharma stated, “I am excited to be part of Ultimate Table Tennis, which has already set a strong benchmark over the past seasons. With UP Prometheans, we look forward to raising the bar further and building a team that reflects our commitment to excellence and high-performance sport. This is another step towards strengthening India’s journey to the Olympic podium.”

Season 7 will feature seven teams competing in a single round-robin format, with each team playing every other team once during the league stage. The total number of ties will increase to 24, compared to 23 over the last two seasons.
