Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami outlined the state's significant advancement in sports infrastructure, reporting the completion of over 102 mini stadiums and 157 playgrounds.
He described the initiative as a strong effort to fulfil the aspirations of Uttarakhand’s youth.
In a post on X, Dhami stated, “To hone the talent of the state’s youth and provide them with a better platform, 102 mini stadiums, 157 playgrounds, and 7 multipurpose halls have been constructed in the state. This is not merely an expansion of basic infrastructure, but a strong initiative to realise the dreams of Uttarakhand’s youth, through which sports culture is being promoted in villages, and our players are bringing glory to the state at national and international levels.”
On Friday, the Chief Minister also held a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Dhami expressed gratitude for the Central Government’s continuous support and guidance in Uttarakhand’s development.
Dhami commented that the state’s growth is reaching new milestones due to this support and invited the Prime Minister to visit Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister thanked the Prime Minister for approving Rs 500 crore assistance for the Haridwar Kumbh-2027, initiating a feasibility study under the National Water Development Agency's river-linking project, sanctioning Rs 100 crore for developing Chauraasi Kutiya in Rajaji National Park, signing a memorandum of understanding for the Naini-Saini airstrip in Pithoragarh, and backing safe helicopter services during the Char Dham Yatra.
He also expressed appreciation for approvals of important infrastructure projects such as the undergrounding of electric lines in Rishikesh, the Champawat bypass, Dehradun Ring Road, and Dehradun-Mussoorie Road.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister detailed actions taken based on the Prime Minister’s suggestions from his previous visit to Uttarakhand. He highlighted efforts to develop the state as a global wedding destination, with Chopta, Duggalbitta, Patwadangar, and the Sharda Corridor currently in development, while Ramnagar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Triyuginarayan have already gained popularity. A dedicated wedding destination policy is under formulation.
Dhami also noted key reforms and initiatives, including the registration of over 6,000 homestays under the homestay scheme and the launch of the country’s first free marketing portal, “Uttarastays.” Centres of Excellence for apple, cherry, plum, and pear cultivation have been established in Chaubatia, Almora, alongside farmer training programmes.
Additionally, under the Vibrant Village Programme, selected border villages are being developed by promoting local culture, cuisine, and handicrafts, according to the CMO.
