Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy visit to Governor Gurmit Singh at Lok Bhavan on Friday to discuss various current issues and development-related matters concerning the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Governor about key ongoing schemes and upcoming programmes in Uttarakhand.
On the same day, Dhami reviewed the progress of announcements made under his declarations related to Assembly constituencies in Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts at the Secretariat. He directed officials to prioritise issues raised by public representatives and ensure prompt and effective resolution.
The Chief Minister stated, “MLAs convey the problems of their respective constituencies to the government, and therefore, it is the responsibility of the administration to take them seriously and act upon them.” He instructed that short-term works be completed at the earliest while long-term projects should be executed in a phased manner within stipulated timelines, emphasising that any laxity in work progress would not be tolerated.
Dhami also ordered the Chief Secretary to enhance coordination among departments for effective implementation of schemes involving multiple departments, with regular reviews at the Chief Secretary level to avoid delays and ensure timely completion. He further instructed officials to maintain continuous communication with MLAs to better understand public issues and expedite their resolution.
The Chief Minister noted that improved cooperation between the administration and public representatives is essential to ensure quality and progress in development works.
With the upcoming monsoon season in mind, Dhami emphasised the need for preparedness, directing that cleaning of drains, removal of silt, and other water drainage-related works be completed in advance to prevent waterlogging and flooding.
He also ordered officials to prepare for the prevention of forest-fire incidents during the summer, stressing interdepartmental coordination and public awareness.
