Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his delight as the Uttarakhand Police received the prestigious President's Police Colour, calling it a golden chapter in the state's history.
He described the award as a living testament to pride, tradition, and an indomitable spirit of service.
The Director General of Police, Deepam Seth, conveyed the news to the Chief Minister at his residence. Dhami stated that the honour places the Uttarakhand Police among the select forces nationwide to have received the highest recognition for exceptional and distinguished service. He extended his congratulations and best wishes to the DGP, officers, and personnel for this historic achievement.
Expressing gratitude to the President, Prime Minister, and Home Minister of India, the Chief Minister acknowledged that their visionary leadership and guidance enabled this milestone. He noted that the recognition not only enhances the police force’s prestige but also elevates Uttarakhand’s standing nationally.
Dhami emphasised that the award represents years of bravery, discipline, outstanding service, professional excellence, and dedication to the nation. It follows a rigorous, multi-layered evaluation process examining all policing aspects, including law and order, crime control, internal security, disaster management, public safety, and technological innovation.
He further noted that the honour serves as a permanent symbol of pride and identity, displayed on the police flag and uniform, inspiring responsibility among personnel. Despite the challenging geographical conditions and limited resources, Uttarakhand Police has maintained strong law and order with notable success in crime control, aided by modern technology and smart policing that have built public trust.
The Chief Minister highlighted the police’s commendable role in disaster management, especially during the 2013 Kedarnath disaster and other natural calamities, where the force displayed exceptional courage, swift action, and humanitarian sensitivity to save thousands of lives. The efficient management of security, traffic, and crowd control during large-scale events such as the Kumbh Mela, Char Dham Yatra, and Kanwar Yatra further demonstrates the force’s capabilities.
Dhami also pointed to the Uttarakhand Police’s model approach in women’s safety, cybercrime control, tourism security, and community policing through technological empowerment and public engagement, serving as an inspiration for other states.
Receiving the honour in the state’s Silver Jubilee Year makes the achievement particularly special, symbolising 25 years of Uttarakhand’s development, service, and dedication. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the police will continue to serve the nation and state under the motto “Friendship, Service, Security,” assuring the government remains committed to modernising and supporting the force to establish global standards of smart policing.
DGP Deepam Seth described the award as a golden chapter in Uttarakhand Police’s history, reflecting the dedication, courage, and duty of every officer and personnel, alongside their families’ sacrifice and support. He expressed confidence that the honour will motivate the force to set new benchmarks of excellence.
With this recognition, Uttarakhand Police is expected to advance with greater determination in serving and protecting both the nation and the state.
