If you've been planning to upgrade your smartphone, TV, or home appliances, waiting might cost you more. Prices of electronic goods are expected to rise in the coming months, with companies already preparing for hikes across multiple categories.

Rising Prices Across Gadgets

Entry-level smartphones and TVs are already becoming more expensive. Affordable 5G phones that were once available under ₹10,000 are now priced between ₹13,000 and ₹14,000. In the near future, these could climb to ₹17,000-₹18,000, with some models even touching ₹20,000.

Televisions are following a similar trend. A 32-inch smart TV, once priced around ₹6,500, now costs about ₹8,500 and may soon reach ₹10,000. Household appliances are not far behind, air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines are all expected to see noticeable price jumps. For instance, a 1.5-ton 3-star AC could soon cost up to ₹40,000.

What's Driving the Price Hike?

Unlike the usual trend where tech products become cheaper over time, this phase is different. The biggest reason is the rising cost of key components, especially memory chips. Global factors, including ongoing geopolitical tensions, have also pushed up production and logistics costs.

Another major factor is the weakening Indian rupee, which makes imports more expensive for manufacturers, eventually impacting retail prices.

Brands Preparing for an Increase

Leading smartphone makers like Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are reportedly gearing up to increase prices by up to 10% on select models. In some cases, newer versions of phones with similar features are already being launched at significantly higher prices, sometimes over 30% more than older variants.

What This Means for Buyers

For consumers, this means fewer budget-friendly options in the near future. If you're planning a purchase, acting sooner rather than later could help you save money before the next wave of price hikes hits the market.
