BJP workers across West Bengal started celebrating with jhalmuri, kamala bhog sweets, songs, and saffron gulal as early election trends showed the party moving ahead in the 2026 Assembly elections.

The atmosphere outside BJP offices and counting centres quickly turned festive, with supporters claiming Bengal had voted for change after years of Trinamool Congress rule.

Why Jhalmuri Became The Symbol Of Celebration

In Kolkata and several other cities, BJP workers distributed jhalmuri and kamala bhog while dancing to Bengali songs. The food choice was not random. During his Bengal election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stopped in Jhargram to enjoy local jhalmuri, which later became a viral political moment.

Now BJP supporters are using the same snack during celebrations as a political symbol linked to Modi's campaign.

Party leader Narayan Chattopadhyay said there was a huge atmosphere of happiness inside BJP camps. He even joked that PM Modi enjoyed the jhalmuri, but Trinamool Congress members "felt the burn."

That line spread quickly among party supporters online.

Saffron Gulal And Loud Slogans Everywhere

As trends continued favouring BJP, chants of "Jai Shree Ram" echoed outside BJP's state headquarters and counting centres. Workers were seen throwing saffron gulal in the air while hugging each other and dancing openly on roads.

The scenes looked almost like festival celebrations instead of election counting.

Many supporters claimed Bengal had finally voted for political change. Several BJP workers said women voters played a major role this time.

One supporter told reporters that the people of Bengal, especially mothers and sisters, had "won today."

Supporters Speak About Change

The emotional reactions from BJP supporters clearly showed how important this election feels for them.

A BJP worker said the party would now show how West Bengal should be governed properly. Another supporter claimed industries and development would return to the state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Some workers also criticised both Trinamool Congress and CPI-M for Bengal's economic condition.

Nandlal Yadav, one BJP supporter, said Bengal was once India's top industrial state but gradually lost that position over the years. According to him, BJP now wants to bring industries back into the state.

Women Workers Join Big Celebrations

In places like Howrah's Shibpur, women BJP supporters were seen dancing to Bengali music during celebrations. Many said they had waited years to witness BJP gaining this kind of momentum in Bengal politics.

Party worker Priyanka Sharma claimed the public mood had already shown signs of major change during voting itself.

She said people wanted an end to what she described as Trinamool's "atrocities" and believed BJP could provide a different direction for the state.

Her comments reflected the sharp political emotions visible during the counting process.

Celebrations Spread Beyond Kolkata

The celebrations were not limited only to Kolkata. Reports showed BJP workers celebrating outside counting centres in Durgapur, Ranaghat South, and several other areas too.

Supporters waved party flags, distributed sweets, and danced in groups while keeping eyes fixed on counting updates.
