Heavy rain, dangerous winds and lightning may hit many districts of Uttar Pradesh over the next two days, and officials are already on alert.
The weather department has warned that wind speed may touch 90 to 100 kmph in Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut and nearby areas. CM Yogi Adityanath has also directed officers to help affected families quickly after weather-related damage and deaths were reported from different districts.
Storm Warning Across UP
Weather suddenly changed across Uttar Pradesh after rain and dusty winds entered many districts late Thursday night. Several cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly and Moradabad saw strong winds with heavy rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department said western Uttar Pradesh may witness severe storms with wind speeds reaching 80 to 90 kmph. Some gusts may even cross 100 kmph for short periods.
Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat and nearby places are likely to see the strongest impact. People have been asked to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Rain Brings Relief From Heat
After weeks of burning heat, many people finally got relief due to rain and cloudy weather. Temperatures dropped in several cities after overnight showers.
Delhi-NCR also saw heavy rain and cool winds, making weather much more pleasant. IMD said temperatures across North India may fall by 6 to 8 degrees till May 31 because of western disturbance activity.
Still, weather experts warned that sudden storms and lightning remain dangerous.
Lightning And Hail Risk In Many Districts
The weather department has also warned about lightning strikes and hailstorms in both eastern and western Uttar Pradesh.
Some districts already witnessed hail along with rain. Jhansi and Badaun reported hailstorm activity while Shahjahanpur saw dust storms before rainfall started.
Officials fear more property damage, tree falls and electricity breakdowns if the weather worsens further.
CM Yogi Gives Emergency Instructions
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the weather situation after reports of deaths, animal loss and damage started coming from different districts.
He directed officials to provide compensation to affected families within 24 hours. Officers were also asked to visit affected areas personally and help people immediately.
The administration has been told to remain active till weather conditions improve fully.
People Told To Stay Careful
Authorities have advised people not to stand near trees, electric poles or weak structures during storms. Farmers were asked to move animals and crops to safer places.
Loose construction material, parked vehicles and outdoor items should also be secured properly because strong winds may throw objects around suddenly.
Experts said people should follow IMD alerts carefully because this kind of weather can become risky very quickly.
Rain Alert Till May 31
According to weather forecasts, rain and storms may continue in many parts of Uttar Pradesh till May 31. Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh are also under weather alert for the next few days.
Though people are enjoying relief from extreme heat, officials say this unstable weather pattern still needs serious caution.
