For many people, this was genuinely confusing. Some even wondered if something was wrong with their own internet connection beforerealisingit was Google itself that was down. Screenshots of the error message quickly started flooding social media, especially X (formerly Twitter). Users expressed surprise, with many saying they had never seen Google go down like this before. One user simply posted "Is Google Down?" along with a screenshot.
