The 35th Battalion of Assam Rifles has been awarded the Governor of Tripura Citation 2026 for outstanding contribution towards maintaining peace, ensuring security, and providing humanitarian assistance in the state.

The honour was presented during an Investiture Ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Agartala.

The battalion has been actively involved in multiple security and welfare-related operations across the region since its deployment in Agartala in September 2024.

The unit has received appreciation for its disciplined approach and effective execution of duties across a range of responsibilities in the region.

During its tenure, the unit played a pivotal role in anti-drug operations carried out under the vision of "Nasha Mukt North East" campaign. Personnel of the battalion have played a significant role in curbing drug trafficking, preventing illegal cultivation and assisting enforcement agencies in tackling narcotics-related crimes.

Apart from anti-narcotics efforts, the battalion has regularly conducted area domination patrols, operated mobile vehicle checkpoints, and coordinated closely with the civil administration, police, and intelligence agencies to strengthen security arrangements in the state.

Despite difficult conditions, Assam Rifles personnel undertook rescue operations, evacuated stranded people, and distributed relief materials to affected communities, helping restore normalcy during flood emergencies in Tripura.

The unit has remained engaged in several community outreach initiatives, including medical camps, awareness programmes, educational activities, and community welfare drives aimed at supporting local residents.
