Expressing concern over the impact of floods on lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure during a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu at the Lok Bhavan on Tuesday, Parnaik urged for coordinated efforts by the government agencies and civil society for disaster management.

CM Khandu briefed the Governor about the prevailing flood situation in the state and the relief and safety measures being undertaken for affected communities.

Flash floods and landslides have caused extensive damage in 14 villages of Lower Siang district, affecting paddy cultivation areas, private properties and public infrastructure. Several regions have also been cut off due to disruption of road connectivity.

Expressing concern over the widespread damage caused by the natural disaster, Parnaik highlighted the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to address the challenges and ensure timely assistance to affected communities.

He also lauded the dedicated services of the State Disaster Response Force, district administrations, public works, civil aviation and disaster management departments, the Indian Red Cross Society, volunteers and locals for their efforts in rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations.

During the meeting, the Governor and the Chief Minister also reviewed major development programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting the state's socio-economic growth, an official statement said.
