The victim, identified as Nyayir Kame from Lungte village in Shi-Yomi district, reportedly fell from the vehicle when it had not come to a complete halt, according to Aalo Police Station officer-in-charge Lakhi Mena, citing the investigating officer.

The incident took place around 2 pm near Darka while the bus was travelling from Pasighat in East Siang district.

It was carrying students returning from a church-organised youth camp held in Basar in Leparada district, as mentioned in a report.

Police said the girl had complained of nausea and requested the driver to stop. However, she got down before the bus fully halted, resulting in the fatal fall.

An FIR has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway, officials said.
