Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K. T. Parnaik and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have attended the inaugural staging of the theatrical production ' Tiranga in Tawang' in Tawang , a play presented by the Monpa Artist Forum and directed by Tsanpa Norbu .

The play portrays the historic mission led by Ralengnao Khathing, also known as Major 'Bethuk' Khathing, whose expedition led to the integration of Tawang with India and culminated in the hoisting of the national Tricolour on February 14, 1951.

The governor appreciated the performers for powerfully bringing to life the bravery and sacrifices of lesser-known heroes who played a role in securing the region.

He described Major Khathing as a distinguished figure from Northeast India and highlighted Arunachal Pradesh's long-standing values of peace, unity in diversity, and patriotism, which he said have helped keep the state free from militancy.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that the play would be taken on tour across the state and other parts of the country to highlight this significant chapter in India's territorial history. He also referred to the Simla Conference while reiterating that Tawang has historically been an integral part of India.

"Tawang is known as the last gift to the Nation by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel."
