Noted academician from Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Joram Aniya, has been appointed as a full-time Member of NITI Aayog.

The appointment has been hailed as a landmark moment for the state, as it brings a prominent intellectual voice into the country's top policy-making body.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu described the appointment as a matter of "immense pride", expressing confidence that Dr Aniya's experience would play a key role in shaping national policy.

In a post on social media, CM Khandu wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Joram Aniya on her appointment as a full-time Member of NITI Aayog. An eminent academician, writer, and folklorist, Dr. Aniya has made pioneering contributions to Hindi literature and the preservation of Nyishi culture. Her remarkable journey as the first woman Ph.D. holder in Hindi from the Nyishi community reflects dedication, scholarship, and a deep commitment to society."

"Her rich experience in education, research, and grassroots engagement will bring valuable insights to national policy, particularly in strengthening indigenous knowledge systems and inclusive development. I also express my sincere gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for recognizing such distinguished talent from the Northeast and entrusting her with this important national responsibility," he added.

An experienced academician and associate professor, Aniya also serves on the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Regulatory Commission and has over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and public policy work.

She has achieved several significant milestones, including becoming the first woman from the Nyishi community to earn a Ph.D., as well as the first person in the state to obtain a doctorate in Hindi, accomplishments seen as highly inspiring in a region working toward greater academic and cultural representation.

Dr. Aniya has also authored and edited several books on Nyishi literature and culture and has published numerous research papers, establishing herself as a leading voice in documenting and promoting indigenous heritage.

Along with Dr. Aniya, scholar-author Balasubramaniam has also been appointed to the same position.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated both the individuals and noted that their rich experience and deep understanding of various issues will greatly strengthen policy-making.
