A camel brought from Rajasthan became the centre of attraction in Sissiborgaon under Assam's Dhemaji district, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, drawing crowds of curious villagers.
According to local reports, the animal was transported to the village via Kharupetia and reached Sissiborgaon, where its unusual presence quickly sparked excitement among residents.
Villagers, including children, gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the camel, turning the quiet locality into a crowded and lively scene.
However, the situation took a turn when local authorities, acting on a specific tip-off, intercepted the vehicle transporting the animal. The camel was subsequently seized by the police.
Due to the unusual nature of the rescue, police utilized local vehicles to carefully transport the massive animal to the Sissiborgaon police station, where it is currently being kept under supervision.
Preliminary reports suggest that the camel was allegedly brought by a resident identified as Khan from Gelua with the intention of being used for Eid sacrifice.
However, after the police were informed, the animal was rescued.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to determine the origin of the camel and the legality of its transport into the region.
Authorities are ensuring the animal's welfare while coordinating with wildlife officials for its proper relocation.
The incident comes amid broader discussions in Assam over animal sacrifice during Eid.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently urged Eid committees and members of the Muslim community to voluntarily refrain from cow slaughter to maintain communal harmony and respect religious sentiments.
While the appeal drew mixed reactions, several Eidgah committees and organisations in different parts of the state have reportedly decided against cow sacrifice during the festival.
