General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command of the Indian Army, Lt Gen V.M. Bhuvana Krishnan, on Thursday held separate meetings with Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as part of his visit to the state to review the overall security situation and border management.
During his meeting with the Governor, the Army Commander discussed issues related to national security, the development of border infrastructure, and coordination between the armed forces and the civil administration to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The Governor lauded the Indian Army's role in safeguarding the country's frontiers and appreciated its humanitarian assistance and civic action programmes in remote areas of Nagaland.
Later, Lt Gen Krishnan paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at his official residence.
Their discussions focused on the current security environment, development of border infrastructure and collaborative initiatives being undertaken by the Army and the state government for the welfare of local communities.

Rio congratulated Lt Gen Krishnan on assuming charge as the GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command and wished him a successful tenure.
Deputy Chief Ministers TR Zeliang and Y Patton were also present during the meeting.
Having recently taken charge as the GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command, Lt Gen Krishnan is currently touring the Northeastern states to review formations and operational areas under his command.
The Eastern Command is responsible for the Army's operations across the Northeast.
