Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday announced that the state government has decided to transfer the investigation into the bomb blast in Bishnupur district , which resulted in the deaths of two children, to the National Investigation Agency .
Speaking at a press conference, the chief minister strongly condemned the incident and stated that the attack appears to have been carried out by individuals or groups with vested interests aiming to disrupt the prevailing peace in the state.
He said the decision to hand over the probe to the NIA was taken after extensive discussions with the state home minister and other MLAs.
CM Singh further stated that the perpetrators have not yet been identified and that an extensive combing operation is currently underway to track down those responsible.
Security personnel from the state police, Assam Rifles, and the Central Reserve Police Force have been deployed in the area, while helicopters are also being used as part of the search operation.
"The culprits will be apprehended at the earliest," the chief minister added.
Appealing for calm, the chief minister urged residents not to react emotionally and requested the public to cooperate with the authorities in restoring normalcy.
Earlier in the day, two persons were killed and five others injured after security forces opened fire when a mob attempted to storm a CRPF camp in Bishnupur district.

Amid the tense situation in Manipur, the state government has also ordered the suspension of internet services in several districts for the next three days.
According to a Home Department notification issued on Tuesday, the shutdown will be enforced in Imphal West district, Imphal East district, Thoubal district, Kakching district, and Bishnupur district.
