Those arrested have been identified as Yumnam Somnath alias Nongsaba (21) of Lamsang Laingam Khul, Imphal West district; Ningthoujam Prem Singh (25) of Heikrujam Mamang Leikai, Nambol Police Station; Sorokhaibam Rustom (25) of Sugnu Chairel Awang Leikai; Ngairangbam Yaikhomba (25) of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen; Wangkhem Ingo Meitei (30) of Sabungkhok Khunou; and Moirangthem Naoba Meitei (24) of Sabungkhok.

The arrests were made as part of ongoing efforts to restore order and prevent further unrest.

As per police officials, the accused were allegedly involved in activities that contributed to disturbances in the region. Security measures have been intensified in sensitive areas, and further investigations are underway to identify any wider network or additional individuals linked to the incidents.

In a separate development, authorities arrested a 21-year-old man in Imphal East on April 25 during an anti-narcotics operation.

The accused, identified as Md. Warish from Hatta Golapati near a local public hospital, was found in possession of 151 bottles of "Codiva" cough syrup containing codeine phosphate. The substance is regulated due to its potential misuse as an intoxicant.

On the same day, police teams intercepted seven vehicles suspected of transporting petroleum products toward the border town of Moreh. During the operation, officials seized 48 plastic containers filled with what is believed to be diesel or similar fuel.

The vehicles included multiple Maruti Eeco vans, a Tata Yodha and a Bolero pick-up, driven by individuals from Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.

All individuals involved were detained for questioning while authorities began verifying documentation and tracing the origin of the fuel.

Preliminary findings suggest the fuel may have been intended for illegal cross-border trade, an ongoing issue in the region driven by price differences and supply constraints.
