Imphal: Manipur Police carried out a series of operations across different districts on July 29, leading to the arrest of three individuals in separate cases involving illegal arms trade, insurgent activities and narcotics-related offences.
In one operation, police apprehended two women from Shanta Bazar under Andro Police Station in Imphal East district for their alleged involvement in the unlawful procurement, transportation and sale of arms and explosives. The accused were identified as Ruhida Begum (46) and Rohana Begum (18).

According to police, the duo had allegedly brought a hand grenade to Shanta Bazar with the intention of selling it to a prospective buyer. Acting on specific information, police intercepted the women and recovered the explosive device from their possession.
The hand grenade was subsequently seized, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source of the explosive and identify others who may be linked to the network.
In a separate operation conducted on the same day, Manipur Police arrested an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Faction), or KCP (MFL), from the Khongjom area along National Highway-2 under Khongjom Police Station in Thoubal district.
The arrested militant was identified as Maibam Rajkumar Singh alias Chinkang (28), a resident of Tentha Mathak Leikai.
Police said the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order in the state. Further investigation is underway to determine the cadre's role and involvement in the activities of the banned outfit.
Meanwhile, in another development, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (ND&PS) Act at Senapati Police Station. The accused, identified as Aditya Dhakal (25), hails from Panikheti Irang Part-II under Kangpokpi Police Station in Kangpokpi district.
He was apprehended from Charhazare near Motbung in Kangpokpi district. Police said legal proceedings in the case are continuing, while investigations are underway in all three cases.
