Imphal: Security forces apprehended an active member of the banned outfit Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) on Monday in connection with a case registered at Singjamei Police Station.
The arrested person has been identified as Maibam Romio Singh (52), also known as Ronald. He is a resident of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai Mongkhang Lambi in Imphal East district of Manipur.
Officials said the arrest was made from his residence after a sustained investigation and based on specific intelligence inputs.
During the operation, security personnel recovered one mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from his possession. Further probe into the case is currently in progress.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested an active cadre of the insurgent group KCP (Ibungo Ngangomba) during an operation in Kakching district on Sunday (May 3), officials said.
The arrest was made from the Kakching Khunou Lamkhai area along the Indo-Burma Sugnu Road under Waikhong Police Station. The individual has been identified as Laishram Anil (34), also known as Chara Singh, a resident of Changangei Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.
According to officials, the operation was carried out based on specific inputs regarding his presence in the area.
During the arrest, security personnel seized a mobile phone and a four-wheeler, a Hyundai i20 bearing registration number MN01AX-9290, from his possession. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
