Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated a new PRIME Hub at Pyndenglawar in Nongstoin, aimed at boosting rural livelihoods and promoting value-added agro-based enterprises in West Khasi Hills district.

Nongstoin MLA G. Wahlang, Rambrai MLA R. G. Momin, along with district officials attended the event.

Speaking at the event, CM Sangma said the network of PRIME (Promotion and Incubation of Market-driven Enterprises) Hubs is designed to create sustainable economic opportunities in rural Meghalaya.

He said, "There is immense potential in our villages. People are producing diverse products, but often lack access to training, processing technology, packaging, and markets."

In a post on X, the Chief Minister urged women Self Help Groups, farmers, entrepreneurs and youth to make full use of the facility and benefit from the support programs offered there.

"Inaugurated the PRIME Hub at Pyndenglawar, Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District. Through the years, PRIME Hubs have supported women Self Help Groups, farmers, entrepreneurs and our youth in chasing and scaling their entrepreneurial dreams. The PRIME Hub at Pyndenglawar belongs to the community. Urge them to utilize the space and its support programs to their advantage," he wrote.

The Pyndenglawar facility, constructed at a cost of Rs 5.92 crore, has been developed as a modern aggregation and processing centre. It will be operated by the Pyndenglawar Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS), reflecting the state government's focus on community-led development models.

The hub is expected to directly benefit over 3,500 farmers in the region by improving processing capacity, enhancing product quality, and expanding market access, key steps toward increasing rural incomes and fostering sustainable entrepreneurship in Meghalaya's hinterland.

Meanwhile, CM Sangma also inaugurated the Block Integrated Development Complex of the Nongstoin C&RD Block in the presence of MLAs, senior officials, and village heads earlier today.

The Chief Minister informed that over Rs 200 crore has been spent to construct new buildings for 46 old Blocks, most of which are completed, while buildings for 10 newly created Blocks have also been sanctioned.
