A government health facility in Meghalaya's North Garo Hills district successfully carried out a specialised childbirth procedure, highlighting the growing capabilities of public healthcare institutions in the state.
An elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS) with bilateral tubal ligation (BLTL) was performed on Thursday at the Resubelpara First Referral Unit (FRU).
Officials said the operation was conducted smoothly by a team of trained medical professionals, ensuring the safety of both mother and newborn.
The development underscores improvements in infrastructure, availability of skilled personnel, and access to essential services at government hospitals, enabling them to handle complex procedures with efficiency and care.
Health authorities said such outcomes reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen public healthcare delivery and ensure that quality medical services remain accessible and affordable.
They also urged expectant mothers to opt for institutional deliveries and maintain regular antenatal check-ups at nearby government facilities, stressing that timely medical care is key to ensuring safe motherhood and healthy outcomes.
