Shillong: Sacred Heart Secondary School emerged champions of the Centenary Cup Inter-School Football Tournament after defeating St Joseph's School, Umden, in a dramatic tie-breaker following a goalless final at Marmain in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district on Friday.
The football tournament was organised by Sacred Heart Secondary School as part of the centenary celebrations of the Sisters of the Destitute, marking 100 years of service in education, healthcare and social welfare.
The event brought together students from six educational institutions and served as a platform to promote sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork among young players.
Participating schools included St Joseph's School, Umden; St Mary's School, Amguri; St Francis de Sales School, Umsiang Maiong; St Peter's Secondary School, Kuswai; and host institution Sacred Heart Secondary School, Marmain.
The competition drew enthusiastic support from students, teachers, parents and residents, who gathered in large numbers throughout the day.

The final match between Sacred Heart Secondary School and St Joseph's School, Umden, proved to be the highlight of the tournament. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which trophies, medals and certificates were awarded to the champions, runners-up and outstanding performers.
