Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma held a meeting with NITI Aayog member V K Paul in New Delhi on Monday to discuss key issues concerning the state's development priorities and future collaboration, according to an official statement.
During the interaction, Lalduhoma thanked NITI Aayog for its continued support and highlighted progress in several sectors, especially horticulture. He noted that Mizoram's recognition as the "Ginger Capital of India" has started delivering encouraging results.
The chief minister also emphasised that Mizoram has achieved full literacy, is among the cleanest and least corrupt states, and has made notable strides in promoting tourism.
He further said that the state continues to be one of the most peaceful in the country. "Recently, we have also signed a peace agreement with the last remaining armed group," Lalduhoma added.
At the meeting, Dr Paul praised the Mizoram government for its strong coordination with NITI Aayog and commended the leadership of the chief minister.
He said the collaboration between the state and the national policy think tank has been fruitful and observed that Mizoram is widely regarded by other states as peaceful.
State Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who was also present, took part in discussions on upcoming joint initiatives, including a proposed Tourism Conclave to be organised with NITI Aayog, the statement said.
Officials added that a preparatory meeting for the conclave will be held in New Delhi later this month to finalise the details.
They also said that Dr Paul and other NITI Aayog officials outlined several support measures, including strengthening Mizoram's tourism policy, offering training through the Institute of Hotel Management, Ashok (IHM-A), and attracting investment in the tourism sector.
