Aizawl: The Mizoram government has assured that there is adequate availability of LPG in the state and said steps are being taken to ensure that residents do not face any shortage of cooking gas.
In a statement, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said the administration is closely monitoring and managing the LPG supply chain to avoid any disruption in distribution, particularly in view of the ongoing tensions in West Asia.
The department also appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, emphasising that the current supply situation is stable and there is no need for concern.
According to official data, the state's LPG supply remains secure with nearly 40,000 cylinders available in the supply chain. Of these, 13,801 domestic cylinders are currently with distributors, while 26,187 cylinders are in transit, bringing the total number of domestic cylinders to 39,988.
For commercial use, the department said 512 cylinders are presently with distributors, while 312 more are on the way, taking the total number of commercial cylinders available in the supply chain to 824.
The department further stated that LPG filling stations across the state are sufficiently stocked to meet the daily demand of consumers.
