According to an official statement, the meeting took place on Tuesday with four senior World Bank officials dealing with India, Bangladesh, and Bhutan affairs, including Executive Director Parameswar Iyer.

The discussions focused on securing financial assistance and technical support for key infrastructure and livelihood projects suited to Mizoram's geographical and economic conditions.

Urban infrastructure development in Aizawl was also part of the agenda. The proposals included construction of flyover bridges to ease traffic congestion in the capital city, along with the introduction of solar-powered portable outdoor stairways to improve accessibility in hilly terrain.

Officials said the initiatives are intended to strengthen connectivity, support environmentally sustainable growth, and create livelihood opportunities by leveraging locally available natural resources.

Sources said that the World Bank representatives responded positively to the proposals, noting that the suggested projects appeared viable and could be examined for possible support.
